Bose Institute, Kolkata and Vijnana Bharati have joined hands together to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Acharya J. C. Bose on a grand scale encompassing all states of India
 

J.C. Bose's 150th birth anniversary celebrations over a period of one year starting November 30, 2008 at National level. Various activities related to the life & works of Acharya J. C. Bose (a scientist &  dreamer and the doyen of modern Research in India) and science popularization among the school & college students as well as general public have been planned. These include intensive study and research on the works and contributions of Acharya J. C. Bose through lectures and other activities like popularization of science through publications and documentary film on Acharya Bose and issuing postal stamp, organizing scientific discussion  forum and Vijnan mela etc to make the young brighter generation aware and inspired toward taking up scientific research as the career in epoch making original scientific discoveries following the path with national feeling as Acharya Bose showed.

JAGADISH CHANDRA BOSE was born on the 30th November 1858 in Faridpur (Dacca District) which was a part of India until 1947; now it is in Bangladesh. His m o t h e r Banasundari Devi Bose was a tenderhearted and affectionate woman.  His father Bhagawan-chandra Bose was a man of excellent qualities. Young Bose wanted to know about everything that happened around him. He was a born scientist. Even as a boy he had many hobbies which showed his scientific interest. In London he first studied medicine and then Natural Science at Cambridge. He passed the Tripos Examination with distinction. He also passed the Bachelor of Science Examination of London University
